The Basics of DUI
If a person is driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, it is considered as a crime in whatever state he or she may be. Such offense is known to be as Driving Under the Influence or DUI. There are also other terminologies which is similar to DUI such as Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Operating Under the Influence (OUI), and also Operating a Motor Vehicle Intoxicated (OMVI). These offenses are all against the law and DUI is identified if:
- The driver has high blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) and is intoxicated based on the level of standard DUI regulations.
- The ability of the driver to properly drive the vehicle is affected and impaired due to the consumption of alcohol, prescribed or over-the-counter medications like painkillers and antihistamines or illegal drugs.
